A beautiful morning at Muthalamada Railway Station (MMDA) near Kollengode in Palakkad district, Kerala. Established in 1898 on the historic Palakkad–Pollachi line, this charming village station sits at 150 m elevation with two platforms, two tracks and a single electrified line under Southern Railway’s Palakkad division.
Surrounded by lush mango groves (“Mango City”) and emerald paddy fields, Muthalamada’s vintage aesthetic has made it a favorite film location in South India.Strategically positioned between State Highway 27 (Palakkad Collectorate → Meenakshipuram) and State Highway 58 (Vadakkancherry → Pollachi), the station serves as a crossroads for rail and road.
🚂 It’s 8:15 AM and we’re waiting for the 8:30 AM Chennai–Palakkad Express to thunder through—only one train still stops here today, but we’re hopeful Indian Railways will add more services to benefit local villagers traveling between Pollachi and Palakkad.
