Every Train Compartment Should Have a Conductor and Security Personnel

Every train compartment must have a conductor and a security person onboard.

The recent tragic incident on the Kerala Express once again exposes how unsafe Indian trains can be, especially for women and senior citizens.

It’s shocking that in 2025, long after numerous crimes have occurred inside moving trains, most compartments still run without any assigned staff presence.
Railways cannot keep claiming lack of manpower as an excuse while millions travel daily in fear.

Having one conductor and one security person per compartment should be mandatory — not for ticket checking alone, but to protect human lives.
When a person is assaulted or cries for help inside a running train, who do they turn to? In most cases, no one.

Railways spend crores on modernization, but basic passenger safety is still being neglected.
We need accountability, visibility, and presence — because cameras and complaint helplines don’t stop crimes in the moment.

Safety in Indian Railways should be treated like safety in aviation — proactive, not reactive.

What do you think? Should passenger coaches have mandatory staff presence like buses and metros do?
