Mankara ROB Construction Update | Railway Level Crossing Closed at Kalikavu – A New Road Over Bridge Rising at Mankara, Palakkad . Construction of a new Road Over Bridge, or ROB, is progressing at the Mankara railway level crossing in Kalikavu, near Mankara Railway Station in Palakkad district, Kerala.The level crossing has been closed temporarily because of the construction work. Road traffic is being diverted through alternative routes, while railway traffic continues normally without interruption.Several construction workers, including workers from Assam, are working at the site in shifts, day and night. Heavy machinery is being used, and several concrete pillars have already been erected.An ROB allows road traffic to pass over railway tracks without waiting for trains. Once completed, this bridge is expected to improve safety, reduce waiting time and provide major relief to motorists, pedestrians and the railway gatekeeper.The gateman told us that operating the gate hundreds of times a day is difficult. But the greater pressure comes from impatient road users who do not want to wait until a train has passed safely. A properly built ROB can remove this daily pressure and make the crossing safer for everyone.ROBs and Road Under Bridges are being constructed across India to eliminate manned level crossings, improve road safety, reduce traffic delays and ensure smoother train operations.
